Bill West - Managing Partner
Management, Underwriting, Quotations and Review of Applications. Bill began his insurance career in 1965 working as a part-time insurance adjuster. In 1967 he entered into the Private Investigator field, and in 1970 he purchased a Private Investigation Agency. Then in 1975 he opened an Insurance Adjusting agency and later a Third Party Administration Agency. During this time he also handled claims for Rockwell International. In 1987 Bill started his own insurance agency, which has now expanded into a nationwide insurance agency including both retail and surplus lines operations. The agency has a number of niche markets that Bill has helped developed, and many of his specialized programs have become very competitive in the marketplace.
Michelle Nowell - Partner
Filing of Surplus-Lines Taxes Nationwide and Review of Applications. Michelle Nowell began working at AMIS in 1990 as a clerical assistant while finishing up her AA Degree at Palomar College. She went on to obtain her insurance license and began selling and servicing clients in the Investigation, Security, and Alarm Industry. In 2003 Michelle moved over to the Surplus Lines business where she became a partner with Bill West. She now handles accounting and tax filings for all states.
Karen Metcalf - Agent/Broker
Personal Lines, Surety Bonds, Commercial Auto, Beauty Salons/Barber Shops, Artisan Contractors, and some Commercial Lines. Karen Metcalf began in the insurance industry right out of high school. She started with a Farmers Insurance Agent, spending five years there before departing as Office Manager. To broaden her knowledge base, she entered the legal field and spent seven years as an Executive Administrator for a Paralegal Firm. Missing the insurance industry, she went back to Farmers for another five years before coming to work at AMIS in 1995. Karen then secured her California Agent/Broker’s license, specializing in Property and Casualty insurance. AMIS is now home for Karen, she loves her work and the opportunity to work with a diverse clientele. Most of Karen’s off time is dedicated to being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Nancy J. West - Agent/Broker
Financial Issues, Premium Financing, Policy Review and Setup. Nancy began her insurance career in 1968 with United Pacific Insurance, where she worked as a Personal Lines Assistant Underwriter and Rater. She joined Bill and his Private Investigation, Insurance Adjusting and Third Party Administration Agencies in 1973. In 1987 she again joined Bill in his new insurance agency, which has now expanded into two agencies, one of which is nationwide − AMIS/Alliance Marketing & Insurance Services. Nancy handles all the policy setup, premium financing and financial matters for both agencies.
Sean Nowell - Agent/Broker
Review of all policies, Charter Schools, Churches, Non-Profit Organizations, Commercial Lines, and Overseer of Glazier Program. Sean worked in a private school as an Athletic Director and teacher for eight years. He has an AA degree from Cathedral Bible College and also worked as a youth pastor/ youth leader for many years. Sean began his insurance career at AMIS in 2003. With his prior work experience and now as an insurance agent/broker, Sean is well qualified to manage policies for the Charter Schools and Churches programs. Additionally, he also oversees the Glazier Program.
Denise Plug - Arizona Agent/Broker
Charter Schools, Commercial Liability, Non-Profit Organizations, Glaziers, Private Investigators, Insurance Adjusters, Process Servers, Record Retriever, Security Guards, Private Patrol, Alarms Companies, Armored Cars and Retail Stores. Denise began in the insurance industry in 2001 working for an OCIP servicing School Deficiency Projects in Arizona. Denise provided member services to 226 Arizona school districts and 2000 contractors enrolled in the program. In 2004 she helped create a subrogation department for a Self-Insurance Pool for 247 Arizona school districts and worked in that department until January 2008. Denise completed the paralegal program at the Arizona Institute of Paralegal Studies. She has also obtained her Adjuster’s license and Property/Casualty Producer’s license in the State of Arizona. Bill Ralston - Oklahoma Agent/Broker
Commercial Liability, Artisan Contractors, Glaziers, Private Investigators, Security Guards, Alarms Companies, Armored Cars and Retail Stores. Bill Ralston has worked in the construction industry as well as the oil and gas industry. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Oklahoma State University in 1975, a Drilling Fluids Engineer Certification from Seminole State College in 1982, and a Second Recovery Certification from Halliburton Services in 1983. Bill has worked on oil and gas drilling sites as well as in exploration offices. He has been self-employed in the construction industry the last 25 years, and has owned a construction company. Bill has dealt with all types of insurance and bonding for his businesses and understands the insurance needs of the small business owner.
